The International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) was founded in 2005 and stands as the preeminent multidisciplinary technical event in the Eastern Hemisphere. Co-sponsored by four leading industry organizations — the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers (EAGE), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) — IPTC focuses on the dissemination of new technologies, sharing of best practices, and promotion of multidisciplinary collaboration. Its mission is to highlight the value of the energy industry's value chain and maximize asset value. The conference's governance is overseen by a board of directors comprising eight representatives from the four sponsoring societies, ensuring the integration and efficient operation of global multidisciplinary technical resources.

The 2025 International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from February 18 to 20. Hosted by PETRONAS and co-organized by SLB, the event themed "Energy for All: Reflect Innovate Evolve" attracted over 11,800 participants and more than 2,500 organizations from over 75 countries, including over 30 national oil companies (NOCs) and international oil companies (IOCs). The conference featured 67 technical sessions with presentations from over 380 industry experts, and included 311 technical papers. Additionally, 108 exhibitors showcased cutting-edge technologies in areas such as energy transition, digitalization, and carbon reduction, solidifying IPTC's position as the core platform in the Eastern Hemisphere for focusing on energy innovation and sustainable development.
